Get a Cheap Facelift with New Kitchen Cabinet Knobs

Imagine this scenario. You're desperate for a kitchen makeover but have a budget of nearly nothing and no patience to wait for the funds to appear. You aren't expecting to completely start over with new cabinetry and flooring, but you would like something that gives your kitchen a different look and feel, and you want the process to be quick and easy.

Sound familiar? This situation happens to thousands of people everyday. They know they want a change, but don't know how to start when they can't afford to do anything of substance. Fortunately there is a solution that accomplished a lot of your desires without costing a small fortune. You can quickly and cheaply change out your kitchen cabinet knobs for a remarkable face lift and it won't take more than an afternoon to do it. Ok, maybe a bit longer if you have trouble deciding what you buy.

Take a trip to your local hardware store or look online for an idea of the huge variety of hardware you can choose from. A decent sized store will have at least a hundred different varieties of knobs and pulls in styles like ceramic, glass, brass, and plastic. You can get them in gold, silver, or varying shades of white with decorative coloring. Truly the options are almost endless.

The best method is to first decide if you need circular knobs or elongated pulls for your door and drawer handles. If you already have pulls you'll want to keep doing that since it requires more than one screw hole and you don't want an unused hole in your cabinet door. If you're currently just using knobs you can choose to get pulls and make an addition screw hole.

Now evaluate color. If necessary take one of your cabinet doors with you and match your favorite knobs to the door to make sure the colors blend well. You don't want something that radically clashes with the basic cabinet look. For instance, white knobs with pink flowers would probably look terrible on a beautiful mahogany wood door, but would look fabulous on rose painted cabinet doors. It's all in the coloring.
